Why choose an MRI or X-Ray?
At Innovate Physiotherapy if we feel that you require either an X-ray or MRI we can arrange onward referral for MRI or X-ray scanning that is done at Spire Parkway Hospital in Solihull. MRI scanning is magnetic resonance imaging that allows detailed images of your body to be taken. MRI scanning is a large tube where you lie in during the scan process. MRI scanning can be used to examine joints, bones and soft tissue structures. X-ray is a procedure that provides detailed images of the bones and joints of the body to help investigate medical issues to a greater depth.
What to expect during your consultation
A thorough assessment is carried out to discover if acupuncture is the correct treatment for you and it is our duty to help you feel as comfortable and relaxed as possible throughout the entire process. Regarding clothing for acupuncture yet again comfort is the key, wearing shorts for the lower limbs and we advise ladies wear a vest top or similar for any upper body treatment.
What to expect during your treatment
Here at Innovate Physiotherapy we use western based medical acupuncture. It is based upon scientific evidence that involves the insertion of needles into the muscles to help stimulate the nerves in the skin and muscles. This may produce a pain stimulating process from the body by blocking the pain and releasing pain relieving hormones.
The placement of the needles will vary and so will the number of needles used. The clinician will decided on where and how many needles are required. The time the needles are left in will vary from 2-3 minutes for trigger point or dry needling techniques and up to 20 minutes for the traditional approach. Once the treatment is over all needles are removed.
